What Enzo's Table quietly turned into
Enzo's Table opened as a specialty market and has slowly built itself into something closer to a European café. In October, the family-owned Enzo's Table debuted an in-house coffee addition called Il Caffé and continued selling high-end honey and kitchen products; as of December it began serving wine. The practical read for a resident: you can now walk over for espresso in the morning, come back for a wine tasting in the afternoon, and pick up olive oil for dinner in one stop.
The Fresno State Collegian, reviewing the space in January, described the room as "very subtly Italian, like if Fresno and Los Angeles wrung out the Italian countryside and juiced it into a cup." What is landing in 2026
The retail buildout is not finished. Two things are shifting the corner this year.
Drybar is coming to The Avenue. The blowout salon chain will open a studio at The Avenue at Heritage Grove, the new mixed-use complex at Willow and Shepherd in Clovis; the salon focuses exclusively on washing, drying and styling hair, and with over 150 salons across the country this location will be the first Drybar in the area. Construction is underway at 1961 N Willow Ave., Suite 103. That is a national brand deciding the trade area supports it, which historically pulls more retail interest in behind it.
The Avenue is filling out around Enzo's. The Avenue includes ten retail spaces including Enzo's Table's newest location, and the development company plans to develop more multifamily housing on the southeast corner of Willow and Shepherd where Enzo's Table is located, along with more retail and office space to replicate the feel of The Row. The trail nobody talks about, right across the street
The retail conversation tends to eclipse the fact that Heritage Grove sits on top of one of the better connective trails in north Fresno. The trail is in northern Fresno and connects to the Old Town Clovis Trail, and you can begin your walk right across from the Row at Heritage Grove shopping center. It runs 7.6 miles, so you can start and stop wherever feels best.
Visit Fresno County recommends pairing it with the retail: stopping at Ampersand Ice Cream or Enzo's Table for a free olive oil tasting or snacks for your trek, with pedestrian and bike tunnels though caution is needed crossing roads on a few sections including getting to the Row at Heritage Grove from the trailhead.
The practical translation: from a Heritage Grove front door, you can walk to a coffee, get on a trail that runs into Old Town Clovis, and be back for dinner at Willow Osteria. That is a genuinely rare pattern in Fresno-Clovis, where most neighborhoods are laid out for the car first.
Who built this, and why it matters for what comes next
The design decisions at The Row are not accidental. The retail center serves as a buffer between the street and the residential community beyond, with awnings and tree-lined pathways inviting pedestrians deeper into the center, a mixture of corrugated steel and reclaimed wood bringing a warm but contemporary style, two-story townhomes lining the outer edges, and three-story walk-up apartments along the interior convenient to the pool, clubhouse, retail and townhomes.
Zoom out and the scope gets bigger. Once completed, Heritage Grove will encompass 2,500 acres of residential communities, multi-family residences, parks, pavilions, clubhouses, churches and town centers, with over 1 million square feet of curated retail celebrating the region's culture and an additional 1 million square feet of contemporary office space and business parks.
That is a 20-year picture, not a promise for next month. But it explains the tenant curation strategy. The developers are not trying to fill vacancies; they are trying to seed a neighborhood identity that new retail keeps reinforcing.
The resident's practical read
If you already live here, three things are worth knowing that the marketing pages will not tell you plainly.
- The retail is closer to a village than a strip. The tenant mix leans local, and the sidewalks were designed for people arriving on foot. That is a lifestyle asset that compounds as more spaces open.
- The Avenue is not a duplicate of The Row. Drybar and the coming ten-space retail wing signal a slightly different, more service-and-experience tenant lineup on the southeast corner. Expect fewer restaurants and more salons, boutiques, and offices.
- The trail changes the math on walkability. Most Fresno subdivisions offer sidewalks. Heritage Grove offers a 7-plus-mile paved connector that starts at your coffee shop.
